Annelies is originally from the Netherlands, and came to Dunedin as an exchange student three years ago. Aotearoa quickly started to feel like home, and proved to be the perfect place to explore her passions of tramping, running, and climbing in the beautiful New Zealand outdoors. She completely fell in love with the country, and moved to Dunedin as soon as she graduated. While her yoga journey started back home in Amsterdam, her love for the practice didn’t fully manifest until she started her practice here in Dunedin. Moving across the globe is an uprooting time, and yoga became a place to ground down, find focus, and breathe deeply — yoga and meditation proved to be the only things that quiet the mind and nourish the soul in whatever circumstance. After trying out yin, hatha, the 26+2 series, and various other styles, the stronger vinyasa flow style has stuck and is now a part of Annelies’ daily routine. She recently completed her RYT200 teacher training with Trimurti Yoga right here in Dunedin, and has started to put the many wonderful things she learned into practice, teaching at various places in the city. She is very excited to bring her teaching back to the studio at Hot Yoga Dunedin where her own practice grew so much, and she hopes to see you all in the studio!
