Fiona’s yoga journey began 15 years ago when at a low point in life. Feeling physically and
emotionally stressed and needing something to ground and calm her, she attended a local
Iyengar class. Fiona immediately felt the benefits of the precise, strong physical practice
combined with the focus on breathing and mindful awareness.
A year or so later she began practising the dynamic Astanga series with its sequential asana
system and was immediately hooked!
In 2007 Fiona completed the two year 500-hour Yoga Alliance teaching qualification at the Yoga
Academy in Auckland. This intensive programme set her up to understand and teach many
aspects of the tradition and established her own practice with a 5-6 day a week practice.
In 2008 she was fortunate to be able to travel to Mysore in India, the home of Astanga yoga.
Fiona has taught and practised Astanga yoga in Wellington, Auckland and Dunedin over the last
10 years and throughout the pregnancies of her children.
The benefits of a regular practice remain key in keeping her centred and balanced, and she loves sharing this knowledge with others.
